Lovelibraries Flickr panel

I've just added a panel to the Blog of Flickr images from the Libraries and Librians group, tagged with 'lovelibraries'. Right now there is a grand total of 2 (I dont take many picture of libraries), but the idea is to get people to use the tag, and then to have the panel on the www.lovelibraries.com website. Will have to wait for DP to upload his pictures to check that this will work properly. It took a while for the panel to work properly, so there may be something going on behind the scenes that isn't quite right.

Work experience podcast

A fascinating podcast about work experience with the Portable Antiquities Scheme, at Birmingham Musuem. Shows how a bit of imagination and flair with the technology can produce some great content!

My library - Google Book Search

My library - Google Book Search

I have just been playing with the new features added to Google Book Search. You can search to find books in your own collection and create a personal library on Google books. Same sort of idea as Librarything, but has the benefit of being able to search the text of your own book collection, to import all the details of your own books, just by entering ISBNs, and to have an RSS feed of books you have just added.

All together, some really neat ideas here, particularly if you have lots of out of copyright books - eg old archaeology / local history books!

What is even more amazing is that I found an old MDA book that I wrote, with Tony Gill, and followed the link to WorldCat. This tells me that there are 13 copies in Libraries - including the Getty, Japan and New Zealand. Following the link to Amazon - where I have installed the Talis @libraries toolbar, I see that it is in another few University libraries in the UK.

How sad, and amazing, is all that!
